Local Sign Service
Sign Company in Rahway
Rahway has a walkable downtown with restaurants, shops, offices and healthcare. It also has mixed use buildings, arts and event venues and neighborhood businesses. Larger business properties sit along Route 1&9 and nearby Union County roads.
So one city has several different sign needs.
A downtown storefront needs a sign people can read up close. It has to work with walkers, windows, awnings and the shops next door. A mixed use building may need tenant signs outside. Inside, it may need directories, suite signs, ADA signs and wayfinding. A larger property may need a sign that reads from farther away. It should help customers find the right entrance.
Since 2005, our New Jersey team has made storefront signs, channel letters, dimensional letters, custom awnings and window graphics. We also make office signs, directories, ADA signs and vehicle graphics. We handle tenant changes and repeat sign work too.
Urban Storefronts
Rahway’s B-5 Central Business Zone is meant for a walkable mixed use downtown. Shops and services sit at street level. Offices and apartments sit above.
Customers come from the station, from parking, from nearby shops and on foot. They do not only drive past. Several sign surfaces make the storefront easy to read.

How It Works
01
Site Survey
We measure the storefront, office or building. We note the existing signs, windows, awnings, entrances and how a sign can be mounted.
02
Design and Planning
We fit the artwork to your real frontage and sign area. We also plan around the building, how customers arrive and the local rules.
03
Fabrication and Printing
Once you approve, we build, cut, print, make the vinyl and finish the sign. We wire it too if it is lit.
04
Installation
Our insured crew sets up site access and installs the finished signs and graphics. If it is in the job, we remove the old sign first.
05
Ongoing Service
We can come back when a tenant changes, a light needs repair, window graphics need replacing or you need another sign.
Rules & Approvals
Rahway’s sign rules sit in the zoning code at § 421-49. The City’s Division of Land Use takes business zoning permit applications.
The rules that apply depend on the address. Rahway’s zoning code has separate business districts. They are B-1 neighborhood, B-2 regional and B-4 service. Three overlays on top of them change what can be built.
Downtown redevelopment
Different rules by subdistrict
The Central Business District Redevelopment Plan sends each downtown subdistrict to a different part of § 421-49. It also lets a temporary leasing sign stay up while a space is being marketed.
Historic overlay
Changes what you can buy
The historic design guidance steers you away from lit box signs, LED reader boards, flashing signs and channel letters. It favors signs lit from outside and traditional styles. A sign that suits a Route 1 building may be wrong for a historic storefront.
Restricted effects
No movement or flashing
Building signs, channel letters, warehouse and dock signs, parking signs, directories, wayfinding and vehicle graphics.
Restaurants & Entertainment
Across the street
Business name and primary identification
Approaching the storefront
Awning or secondary sign
At the entrance
Hours, menu information, pickup details and customer instructions
Inside
Menu graphics, wall signs, restroom and ADA identification, directional information
Offices, Medical & Multi-Tenant
Rahway’s B-4 Service Business Zone allows professional, medical and dental offices next to shops and restaurants. The zoning also encourages mixed use buildings around downtown.

Individual Businesses
For property managers, each tenant’s pieces should be easy to swap one at a time. The building wide pieces stay the same. That makes the next tenant change smaller.
Tenant Changeover
We check what is already on the building before we suggest replacing it all.

Repair & Refacing
Rahway has a lot of existing business signs, on downtown storefronts and on larger properties. Over time, LEDs fail and letters come loose. Sign faces fade, vinyl wears and awning fabric ages. Tenant names change, directory listings go out of date and electrical parts fail.
Gogi Signs repairs and updates business signs even when another company built them. Common service work includes:
Serving Rahway
Rahway keeps investing in its downtown and arts district. In its 2026 State of the City update, the City pointed to more work around the Arts District. It also plans to rethink Train Station Plaza as a friendlier gateway for people on foot. Rahway keeps its redevelopment focus on downtown and its business areas. Its 2026 planning agenda includes street improvements for walkers and more business growth.
For downtown businesses, this makes it more important that signs work for walkers, rail commuters, diners, event visitors, residents and office workers. A sign should not be designed only for someone standing right in front of the store. It should also work from down the sidewalk and from nearby public spaces.
Do you have other locations in Linden, Union, Westfield or elsewhere in Union County? Our New Jersey shop can keep the same artwork and build standards at each one. We still fit each sign package to the property and the town.
Get Started
Maybe you are opening a downtown store or taking over a restaurant. Maybe you are moving into a mixed use building or updating a medical office. You may need a new awning cover, new channel letters, window graphics, a directory update or a repair. In every case, start with the exact property address and photos.
From our New Jersey shop, Gogi Signs can handle site measurements, sign drawings, building, large format printing, installation, repairs and later sign changes.

FAQs
Business signs fall under Rahway’s zoning rules, mainly § 421-49. Redevelopment and historic overlay properties may have extra rules. The City’s Division of Land Use handles commercial zoning-permit applications.
