— Sign Company in Trenton
Gogi Signs designs, fabricates and installs signs for the businesses, agencies and institutions working in Trenton. Drawings, production, the permit set and the installation stay with one company, which shortens the list of people to chase when a date moves.
The wall does most of the work in this city. Trenton does not permit freestanding signs for ordinary retail and office uses in its commercial, mixed-use and downtown districts, so the fascia, the blade sign and the awning carry the name instead of a monument out front.
Most of that work is lit. Channel letters and halo lettering across the retail frontages, blade signs where the approach is on foot, awnings over the restaurant doors, and cut metal or acrylic letters on the office and institutional entrances. Each one is fabricated to the elevation rather than ordered to a size.
Then there is the other half of the work. A restaurant on South Broad wants a lit fascia and an awning; an agency, a county office or a nonprofit a few blocks away wants an interior package instead — room signs, directories and wayfinding — on a schedule and an invoice a finance office will accept.
Eight local historic districts sit inside the city, the State House district among them. On those blocks an illuminated plastic box looks wrong before it is switched on, and painted, gilded and dimensional lettering, or halo-lit letters set off the brick, carry a nineteenth-century facade far better. We make all of it.
— Our Services
One company holds the job from the first site visit to the day a face needs replacing.
Sign Design
Letterform, scale, materials and lighting resolved against the wall the sign will mount on. Proofs come back at true size on a photograph of your building, so the decision is made on the elevation.
Sign Fabrication
Aluminum, acrylic, Dibond, PVC and dimensional letters, printed, routed, welded, painted and wired to order. Illuminated work is built with diffused faces and dimmable drivers, so the light reads even across a letter rather than hot at the LED.
Sign Installation
Certified installers, licensed and insured, with certificates of insurance issued in your landlord’s or agency’s name where a building requires one. Nineteenth-century brick and a modern curtain wall take different anchors.
Survey & Shop Drawings
We measure the wall, find what is behind the facade, record the power at the point of connection and photograph the elevation before pricing anything fixed to a building. What comes back is a drawing set at true scale.
ADA & Wayfinding Packages
Tactile room and suite signs with Braille, floor directories, egress plans and directional runs, produced as one numbered package against a floor plan and delivered complete.
Sign Repair & Refacing
Failed LEDs and transformers, water in a cabinet, impact and storm damage, faded faces. Where the cabinet is sound and only the tenant has changed, a new face costs a fraction of a rebuild.
— Why Gogi Signs
Facilities managers, store owners and general contractors keep Gogi Signs on their list because the job closes cleanly: drawings that match what gets built, an installation date that holds, and a number that still answers three years later.
Twenty years of that has also made us a supplier to other sign companies, who buy from us wholesale and inspect the weld, the paint and the wiring before their own client ever sees the job. It is a demanding way to be judged, and it keeps the standard where it needs to be.
— Our Products
What downtown storefronts, agency buildings and the offices around the State House order most often.

Each letter built as its own can in fabricated aluminum with an acrylic face. Front-lit reads hardest from across the street; reverse-lit halo throws light back onto the wall for a quieter, more expensive look on brick and stone.

A double-sided sign on a bracket, reading down the sidewalk to people already walking toward you. Painted steel, routed aluminum or a lit cabinet, with the bracket made to suit the facade rather than bought off a shelf.

Shelter and signage in one, in acrylic or vinyl fabric over a welded frame, printed or with applied lettering. Where the frame is still sound, a recover costs a fraction of a new awning and goes on in a day.

Tactile lettering with Grade 2 Braille at the correct mounting height, in photopolymer or applied acrylic, plus floor directories, egress plans and directional runs. Supplied numbered against your floor plan so a facilities team fits them in order.

Cut metal and acrylic letters for reception walls and building entrances, in brushed aluminum, painted steel or polished brass. Cast and etched plaques for dedications, donor walls and building names.

Cut lettering, partial wraps and full wraps in 3M cast film, fitted by certified installers. A van working out of Trenton is seen more times in a week than the storefront, and it costs less than a lit sign.
— Permitting & Zoning
Trenton rewrote its land development ordinance in December 2023, and Article 12 of Chapter 315 now holds every sign standard in one place. These are the numbers that shape a design before anything is drawn.
1 sq ft : 1 ft
Wall sign area per linear foot of the wall it mounts on, or 40 sq ft, whichever is greater — so forty is a floor, not a ceiling.
32 sq ft
Blade signs in most districts, 12 sq ft on the Main Street Corridor, projecting four feet at 7.5 ft of clearance.
25%
Share of each awning or canopy surface that may carry copy. Back-lit awnings are not permitted.
30%
Window coverage allowed with no sign permit at all, with illuminated window signs capped at 6 sq ft.
Freestanding signs are the notable omission. A pole or monument sign out front is allowed only in the industrial and institutional districts, and for uses such as schools, places of worship and parks — not for an ordinary retail or office business downtown. Eight local historic districts, the State House district among them, add a certificate of appropriateness before zoning approval, and a property inside a redevelopment area follows that plan instead.
Two permits are involved and the order is fixed: a zoning permit from the Zoning Officer first, then a construction permit from the Division of Technical Services, which cannot issue until the zoning permit is approved. We survey the wall, produce the drawing set at true scale, and tell you which stage is most likely to add time.
The application is filed by you or your landlord. We assist with permits; we do not file them on your behalf. The permit is issued to you by the City of Trenton, and no sign company can promise you an approval.
— How It Works
A storefront on South Broad and a floor of offices in a state building are different jobs, and both are ordinary weeks here.
State & County Government
Departments, county offices and public buildings. Room and suite identification, floor directories, egress plans and exterior building signage, quoted and invoiced against a purchase order.
Nonprofits & Advocacy
Advocacy organizations, foundations and service agencies near the capitol. Reception lettering, donor panels, directories and exterior identification.
Law & Professional Offices
Practices, lobbying and consulting firms in the downtown blocks. Etched and cast suite plaques, dimensional reception letters in brushed metal, door vinyl and building directories.
Downtown Retail & Restaurants
South Broad, East State and the Chambers Street corridor. Illuminated fascia signs, blade signs, printed awnings, window lettering and menu boards for the independents.
Healthcare & Clinics
Hospital departments, practices and community clinics. Tactile ADA room signage, department directories, exterior identification and parking wayfinding, fitted outside clinic hours.
Education & Training
Colleges, schools and training providers across the city. Building identification, campus wayfinding, room numbering, donor recognition and safety signage.
Contractors & Trades
Job site boards, contractor identification, scaffold and fence mesh banners, and cut lettering or full wraps for vans and trucks working across Mercer County.
Arts & Cultural Institutions
Museums, theatres and galleries. Exhibition signage, donor recognition, dimensional lettering and exterior identification on historic buildings.
—Your Local Sign Company
Working nearby shows up in small ways: a survey booked the same week rather than the month after, a crew that arrives having read the drawing the estimator quoted from, and artwork still on file when a tenant changes and only the face needs remaking.
— Get Started
An address and a photograph of the elevation are enough to check the district, look at the wall and price the work properly.
Back comes a figure, a date and a plain list of what the city will want to see. A historic district or redevelopment area address gets flagged before anything is drawn.

— FAQs
On the downtown blocks the wall is doing all the work, so the fascia has to be legible from the opposite sidewalk rather than from a car. Illuminated channel letters read hardest; a routed panel with push-through acrylic reads nearly as well for less. A blade sign is usually worth adding on any street where people arrive on foot, because it is the only sign visible to somebody already walking past your door.
Front-lit letters push the most light and hold up on a busy corridor. Reverse-lit halo letters throw light back onto the wall and read as more expensive, which suits brick, stone and older facades. Unlit dimensional letters with a good gooseneck fixture cost less to run and often look better on a historic building than anything internally illuminated.
In most of Trenton, no. Freestanding signs are permitted in the industrial and institutional districts, and for uses such as schools, places of worship and parks. An ordinary retail or office business in a commercial, mixed-use or downtown district does not get one by right, so the fascia, the blade sign and the awning do the work instead.
Painted and gilded lettering, carved and dimensional letters, and halo-lit letters set off the masonry all sit well on a nineteenth-century facade, and they review far better than an internally illuminated box. Gold leaf on glass costs less than most owners assume and lasts decades. We make all of it rather than sending it out.
Possibly not. Trenton keeps a Classic Sign registry for signs at least fifty years old with distinctive character and significance to the city. A designated classic sign stays after the original business moves on, and sits outside the ordinance’s sign provisions. Restoring one usually costs less than a replacement, and once it comes down it cannot be recreated.
Yes. Failed LEDs and transformers, water in a cabinet, storm and impact damage and faded faces are routine work, whoever built the original. Where the cabinet is sound and only the tenant has changed, a new face costs a fraction of a rebuild and goes up in days rather than weeks.
Most permanent signs need a zoning permit and then a construction permit, in that order. We survey the wall, produce the drawing set at true scale and tell you exactly what the city will want to see. The application is filed by you or your landlord. We assist with permits; we do not file them on your behalf, and no sign company can promise you an approval.
Cost follows the size, the materials, whether it is illuminated and how it fixes to the building — a window graphic and a set of lit channel letters are not remotely the same job. Design and proofing move quickly, fabrication depends on the product, and permits run to the city’s timetable rather than ours. Send the address and a photograph of the elevation and a real figure comes back.
