Local Sign Service
— Sign Company in Hackensack
Hackensack combines a growing downtown, healthcare, professional offices, county government, retail, restaurants, mixed-use development and commercial properties tied closely to the Bergen County market.
That gives signage several different jobs depending on the address.
Our New Jersey team handles storefront signs, channel letters, dimensional lettering, custom awnings, window graphics, directories, ADA signs, interior identification, tenant signage, vehicle graphics and commercial sign repair — from site survey through installation.
— A Changing Downtown
The City describes downtown as a resurgent business district with thousands of new residents living within walking distance of traditional retail, restaurants, professional services and other businesses, alongside direct access to New York City and proximity to I-80, Routes 4 and 17, and the New Jersey Turnpike.
Older storefronts remain along Main Street and the surrounding blocks, while newer mixed-use buildings add ground-floor tenants, shared entrances, offices, residential components and multi-tenant interiors. The City maintains a Downtown Redevelopment Plan and adopted further amendments in January 2025.
— Main Street Storefronts
Downtown works at a closer viewing distance than the larger suburban commercial roads. People see the business from across Main Street, then approach on foot and continue beside the storefront.
The City’s sign code speaks directly to reducing visual clutter and creating signage that works with the architecture and the surrounding commercial setting. We separate storefront communication into four jobs:
01
Primary Identification
The business name and logo dominate the main exterior sign.
02
Sidewalk Identification
A blade sign, awning or secondary dimensional element for customers already moving along the frontage.
03
Entry Information
Hours, suite information, pickup instructions and accessibility details, closer to the door.
04
Promotional Messaging
Short-term offers, opening graphics and seasonal displays on the windows rather than in permanent sign copy.
The main storefront sign does not have to carry every piece of information when the rest of the frontage is planned properly.
— Our Products
Our New Jersey shop produces fabricated, printed, exterior, interior, temporary and replacement signage for businesses throughout Hackensack.

Custom metal, acrylic, PVC, and other dimensional lettering for exterior and interior applications.

Replacement faces, tenant changes, graphics, and lighting service for usable existing cabinet signs.

— How It Works
01
Site Survey
We measure the storefront or interior area, photograph the façade and document existing signs, brackets, awning frames, wiring and mounting conditions.
02
Design and Planning
Artwork is fitted to the actual tenant frontage and to whichever standards apply at the address — citywide zoning or an adopted redevelopment plan.
03
Fabrication and Printing
Approved projects move through fabrication, cutting, large-format printing, vinyl production, finishing and electrical assembly where applicable.
04
Installation
Our insured installation crew coordinates site access, removes existing signage where included, and installs the completed signs and graphics.
05
Future Service
When a tenant changes, lighting needs repair, a directory needs a new listing or window graphics need replacing, we can return to the property.
— Sign Rules & Permits
There is a wrinkle here that matters more than any single dimension: signage standards inside an adopted redevelopment or rehabilitation plan can supersede the citywide sign standards — and redevelopment plans cover substantial parts of downtown.
A commercial sign application asks for applicant and property-owner information, owner consent where applicable, a scaled rendering, colors, dimensions, height above grade, lighting, the property address, existing signs, proposed copy and the attachment method.
Because the 75% rule keys off the storefront, we need the actual tenant frontage before deciding how wide the letter set or panel should be. The application is filed by you or your landlord. We assist with permits; we do not file them on your behalf.
— Illuminated Signs
Hackensack places specific controls on illumination, and they shape how the sign is built rather than just how it looks.
— Shared-Entrance Offices
The ordinance contains specific requirements for professional, business and medical office tenants sharing a common entrance. In the applicable districts, tenant identification or directory signs must be unlighted, limited to one sign per tenant, and uniform in appearance — each limited to two square feet with a vertical height of eight inches.
That applies to medical offices, law firms, financial services, consultants, real estate offices, professional practices and multi-tenant commercial buildings, and it means the directory or suite-identification system has to be planned as a building standard rather than letting each tenant install something unrelated.
We produce coordinated systems with replaceable tenant components, so a future change does not mean rebuilding the whole directory.
— Multilingual Signs
Hackensack’s sign code addresses multilingual business signs directly. Text may be used in languages other than English, or alphabets other than Latin, but the ordinance requires English translation or Latin-alphabet transliteration at equal or greater size and visibility — and the combined text still has to fit inside the same maximum sign area and dimensional limits.
Adding a second language is therefore not a matter of squeezing another line beneath the first. We work through letter size, visual hierarchy, spacing, logo position, script direction, overall sign width and the municipal limits, so both versions stay readable rather than turning the sign into dense copy.
— Who We Work With
Healthcare, downtown retail and restaurants, professional offices, county government and the mixed-use buildings redevelopment keeps adding.
Healthcare and Medical Offices
Healthcare is a key sector in the city. We provide building, entrance, directory, suite, department, and ADA signs for clear wayfinding.
Restaurants and Cafés
Storefront signs, channel letters, awnings, window graphics, and menu displays, planned within permitted window limits.
Retail Stores
Exterior identification, dimensional signs, window graphics, temporary promotions and tenant changes.
Professional Offices
Directories, suite signs, reception logos, privacy film, room signs and office identification — built to the shared-entrance standard where it applies.
Mixed-Use and Multi-Tenant
Redeveloped properties now combine residential, retail, and office uses, requiring clear signs for entrances, lobbies, elevators, and corridors.
Property Managers
Common sizes, materials, type styles and replacement methods so the next tenant update fits the property instead of starting over.
Government and Institutional
County and institutional properties need clear building identification, directories, room and department signs, ADA signs, and interior wayfinding.
Contracting Companies
Office or storefront identification, door graphics, interior signs and vehicle lettering across the Bergen County market.
— Tenant Changeover
The ordinance makes this the moment to review the signage: a change in occupancy or ownership requires a sign-permit application for nonexempt signs.
A usable cabinet may only need a new face, and a directory may need one listing changed — but the permit application is required either way.
What the changeover covers
Coming-soon graphics come down when the business starts serving customers, so they are planned as short-term material from the outset.
— Repair & Refacing
Hackensack has a long-established commercial sign inventory across downtown storefronts, office buildings, healthcare properties and older commercial blocks. Over time LEDs fail, faces fade, letters loosen, awning fabric wears, vinyl ages, tenant names change and directories go out of date.
Gogi Signs repairs and updates commercial signage even when another company originally fabricated it. Common service work includes:
Where the existing structure remains useful, repair or refacing usually makes more sense than replacement — and an altered sign still needs the permit an entirely new one would.
— Serving Hudson County
Gogi Signs serves businesses throughout Hackensack, including properties around:
Hackensack remains one of Bergen County’s major commercial centers, with downtown redevelopment, healthcare, offices, retail, professional services and strong transportation access supporting a broad range of businesses.
For companies operating in several Bergen County communities — Paramus, Fair Lawn, Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Bergenfield, Englewood, Ridgefield Park, Teaneck and the surrounding towns — our New Jersey shop can provide one fabrication and installation source while each address is handled to its own requirements.
